Rosh HaShanah starts next Friday evening with the new moon that precedes the autumnal equinox – when there is a maximal balance of night and day in Earth’s local cosmos. It is the first day of the month of Tishrei. Sefer Yetziarh teaches that by means of the letter Lamed, Tishrei manifests in time and the scales of Libra in space. Balance is key in our local cosmos. This is an optimal backdrop in which to do our inner work.
